Here is what you have to say.

“I have read Warrior of the Son by Samuel Schiller. I liked it. Mr. Schiller’s prose has a smooth flow and his sentences a pleasing rhythm. The plot drew me in quickly and I wanted to find out what happened to the characters. The story is well-paced with a good mix of action, conversation, evolving relationships, and internal reflections by the young protagonist as he turns over in his mind how to respond to evil, the influence of Jesus Christ through his Christian warrior mentor, and ultimately the call of Christ himself.

“The Christian theme of the book is biblically sound and uplifting: Jesus Christ changes lives dramatically. He empowers us to overcome fear, resist evil and release bitterness and hate we may harbor toward others. He expects obedience and discipline, but gives joy and peace in return.

My wife and I homeschooled our 18 year old son from birth. We love books aimed at developing a Christian world view and godly character traits. Warrior of the Son is such a book. Readers from late elementary age through adults will enjoy this book.”

I just finished this book, and was spellbound. The mix of adventure, suspense, and just plain old good writing made it hard to put down. The building of the characters was masterful. I am anxiously awaiting the second book. Hurry!

What a delightful read! I'm ready for book two. This spring, I taught a 12-week series on C.S. Lewis and the Chronicles of Narnia at Park Cities Presbyterian, and was pleasantly surprised to find another well-written book ("Warrior...") in a similar genre, aimed at nearly the same age-group (namely 8 to 99).

I was introduced to "Warrior..." by a 12 year old in my Narnia class. He gave it to me as a gift, and I finally got around to reading it this last week. I think the characterization is very well done, and the story interesting and compelling. More importantly, it is faithful to the gospel, and presents periodic reminders to the characters about the importance of a life of moral integrity, courage, and obedience to the One True God.

Yet, while the Christian virtues are obvious, they do not detract from the story, nor should they hinder non-Christians from enjoying the book. Keep writing with the same balance and excitement, and I expect the other books to do well!

You are welcome to use this as a testimonial.

Separately, I would add that the ONLY change I would encourage would be to make the map more clear -- perhaps by spanning two-pages, and enlarging the lettering. As far as the writing -- don't change a thing! You are very gifted.
