This is a replica of a Viking style sword from the period of about 750 - 900 AD. The cocked hat pommel is of typical Viking design. Plain, flat crossguards were common on early Viking swords, while curved crossguards show Anglo-Saxon influence. Swords of this type were used mainly for slashing, often in conjunction with a shield. The overall length of this sword type would have been about 36" with a blade of about 30". A weight of under three pounds would have been typical.

Constructed of poplar, this sword is not intended for sparring, but will take a fair amount of abuse from adventurous young warriors. Sword comes in unfinished wood.

Length: 24"
