NORMAN SWORD

Descendants of the Vikings, the Norman's prowess in battle enabled them to the conquer England, Sicily, and assist in retaking the Holy Land in the First Crusade. This sword is a replica of the style of sword carried by these great warriors. Illustrations of this sword may be seen in the Bayeaux Tapestry. Intended mostly for slashing, the Norman sword featured a wide, tapered blade with a large central fuller and a plain, straight crossguard. The pommel might be a flat steel disk or a brazil-nut profile.

Constructed of poplar, this sword is not intended for sparring, but will take a fair amount of abuse from adventurous young warriors. Sword comes in unfinished wood.
